Ginger
Right now I am loving ginger and must share this love.. of ginger, so listen up!

I used to hate ginger. I would watch my mom and my grandma finish all of their ginger whenever we went out for sushi, even after they were done with their sushi, they would still pick at the ginger. I thought it tasted too much like soap, which kind of makes sense since it’s meant to “cleanse” the palate.
However things have changed, and now I love ginger and I’ll put it in almost everything from tea, kombucha, and sodas to salads, stir-fries, and curry. Ok… so that’s not everything, but it feels like a lot. By the way, The Smith (3rd ave) makes an awesome cucumber ginger-ale.

I always think of the mandrake from Pan’s Labyrinth, maybe that’s a dark way of thinking about it, since I chop up and eat ginger… but it’s not a mandrake, or a baby, it’s ginger.
This of course is not ginger, but a mandrake!

Nutritionally and topically, ginger has an amazing range of benefits: it boosts immune system, helps detox, helps sore achy muscles, helps relieve menstrual cramps, brightens and rejuvenates skin, alleviates nausea (even morning sickness), acts as an anti-inflammatory agent, and apparently it also protects against colorectal cancer and can kill ovarian cancer cells. Talk about a super food ;)
